On behalf of the Benedict Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, we would like to congratulate two of our members Holly Brown and Jennifer Rose on their completion and passing the Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medical Technician - Basic course. (EMT-B) EMT-B is one of the more difficult and time consuming classes that MFRI offers to the departments. The course consisted of 131 instructional hours plus numerous hours of ride a-longs on their company ambulances to obtain their patient assessments.
In EMT class they learn skills to perform emergency medical care in a pre-hospital environment at the basic life support level. They will be able to recognize, assess, and manage medical and trauma signs and symptoms in patients of emergency situations
