At 1812 hrs, Charles County Emergency Services Dispatched Boat 5 in the area of Myrtle Point Park in the Patuxent River for a missing swimmer . Boat 5 responded with 2 Water Rescue Technicians (WRT M.Ruslander, Chief-WRT A.Ruslander). Once Boat 5 arrived in the area they immediately started a grid pattern search in the area last known for the swimmer along with Rescue Boats from St. Marys County, DNR, Coast guard, State Police. While doing a search Boat 5 was alerted to respond to the shore to render aid to a Male with a broken rib , Boat 5 rendered patient care and transported the patient to awaiting EMS at the Solomons boat ramp then quickly returned to continue searching for the missing swimmer. Approximately 4.5 hours later Water Rescue Technician M. Ruslander and a Diver from Maryland DNR Police entered the water to search a area that was spotted on the Calvert County Dive Teams under water sonar, shortly after searching the area the victim was recovered from the water by Boat 5 and transported to shore. Due to the circumstances the victim did not make it. Boat 5 operated for approximately 6 hours before returning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim and everyone affected.

Units: Boat 5 , Trooper 7, DNR, Calvert dive team , st. Mary’s Boat 5,6, coast guard
